Son Goku, having not seen his friends for several years, rides to Kame House with his son, Gohan, atop the Kinto-Un. There, Gohan meets Bulma, Muten Roshi, and Kuririn. Goku's old friends, happy to see him, are flabbergasted that Goku now has a child who has a tail just as Goku did once. Unfortunately, the peaceful moment is shattered when the mysterious alien drops in on the reunion, proclaiming Goku to be a man named Kakarotto. When approached by Kuririn, the alien unravels his tail from his waist and swats him away with ease. He proceeds to demand to know if Goku had once hit his head badly. Muten Roshi steps in and explains to Goku that his Grandpa, Gohan, had found him in a pad in the mountains, tried to raise him, and that Goku was of a very violent nature until he badly injured his head in an accident.

The alien continues by revealing that he is in fact Goku's older brother, Raditz, and that Goku is in actuality a Saiyajin named Kakarotto born on the Planet Vegeta who was sent to Earth as a baby. Kakarotto's mission was supposed to have been to exterminate the Earth's inhabitants so the planet itself could be sold. However, the Saiyajin's home planet of Vegeta was itself destroyed by a meteor, and now Goku was one of the only four surviving Saiyajin. When Goku refuses to join with his brother, Raditz attacks him, easily overpowering Goku and grabbing his son. With a smirk, Goku's sinister brother demands that Goku join him, killing one hundred humans within twenty four hours to prove his loyalty, or else bear losing his only son.
