Pre-Dragon Ball
Raditz was a Saiyajin solder, serving the maniacal tyrant, Freeza, with the rest of his race. The son of a low class and under appreciated soldier, he was considered weak by the more elite Saiyajin. However, when Freeza destroyed Planet Vegeta, home world of the Saiyajin, Raditz was one of the few survivors. Off conquering another planet at the time, Raditz never knew the truth of his planets's destruction. Instead he was fed lies about a meteor collision and continued to work in Freeza empire as one of the last of his kind. But Raditz knew that not long before Planet Vegeta was said to have exploded, his little brother, still only an infant, was sent off to a planet called Earth. Dragon Ball Z Little over twenty years later, Raditz came to Earth, looking for his little brother, Kakarotto, astonished to find that his brother had failed in exterminating the planet's peoples. Using his Scouter to detect nearby Battle Powers, Raditz went on a search, but ended up finding Piccolo Daimao, former demon king of Earth. However, even Piccolo's might was little compared to Raditz's otherworldly strength. |
| Tracking another large Battle Power, Raditz left Piccolo trembling behind and found a small island. On which, he met a man who looked exactly like his father, Son Goku. Suddenly the truth became clear. Kakarotto had injured his head when he was merely an infant and accidentally erased his memories of his mission. Raditz was shocked to find that Goku had even removed his tail, losing his ability to transform into an Oozaru at the sight of the full moon. But ever watchful, Raditz noticed a small boy who did have a tail. Determined to make Goku embrace his destiny as a Saiyajin warrior, Raditz captured the boy, Goku's son, and flew off, demanding Goku kill one hundred people and dump their bodies on the beach, or else lose his son forever. |

Annoyed by the small boy's crying, Raditz locked him away in his space pod and waited patiently for his brother to complete his task. But suddenly, Raditz's Scouter detected a large Battle Power, twice as high as Goku or Piccolo's. Oddly enough, the reading was emanating from within his sealed space pod. Convinced his machine was broken, Raditz shrugged it off, but was soon visited by Goku and Piccolo, who had teamed up in order to fight the alien.
The fight broke out but even together, Goku and Piccolo were overwhelmed by Raditz. Though surprised by their ability to raise their Battle Powers at will, Raditz dominated the fight, easily dodging any attack strong enough to hurt him, even relieving Piccolo of one of his arms. However, before finishing Piccolo, Raditz's tail, his only weakness, was grabbed by Goku. However, Raditz used Goku's kindness and naivety to free himself, and grind his little brother into the dirt. Unable to withstand his father's screams any long, Goku's son, Gohan, broke free of the space pod and launched an attack on Raditz, weakening him enough for Goku to grab him from behind. And so, Piccolo used his mighty Makankosappo technique to pierce through both Raditz, and his hated rival, Son Goku. The two brothers fell to the ground. Raditz cursed what had happened, and how his brother had doomed them both. But Piccolo revealed to Raditz the existence of the Dragon Balls, and how Goku's friends would be sure to revive him. However, Raditz had a secret as well. That the two other surviving Saiyajin were listening through his Scouter, and now they had learned of the Dragon Balls. Raditz laughed, truely believing that Vegeta and Nappa would use their wish to revive him. Infuriated, Piccolo ended Raditz's life. And so Raditz's soul drifted to the afterlife, damned to Hell for his misdeeds, and was never revived. |
